What was the stamping dies
Stamping forming drawing punching was a metal production prcocess made by the stamping press with dies and moulds.
All the part made by the stamping production process was depend on the dies ,from the 3D shape with the part tolerance ,the dies or moulds take a key part inside of them .Stamping dies are the tools that shape and cut sheet metal parts. They are commonly developed using computer-aided design (CAD) software and analytical programs to create and prove-out highly accurate, unambiguous designs. These designs are then translated into stamping dies by skilled craftsmen, known as diemakers. Once these stamping dies are mounted into presses, sheet metal is fed to them to produce parts.

A stamping die is a special, one-of-a-kind precision tool that cuts and forms sheet metal into a desired shape or profile. The die's cutting and forming sections typically are made from special types of hardenable steel called tool steel. Dies also can contain cutting and forming sections made from carbide or various other hard, wear-resistant materials.
Stamping is a cold-forming operation, which means that no heat is introduced into the die or the sheet material intentionally. However, because heat is generated from friction during the cutting and forming process, stamped parts often exit the dies very hot.
Dies range in size from those used to make microelectronics, which can fit in the palm of your hand, to those that are 20 ft. square and 10 ft. thick that are used to make entire automobile body sides.

The part a stamping operation produces is called a piece part . Certain dies can make more than one piece part per cycle and can cycle as fast as 1,500 cycles (strokes) per minute. Force from a press enables the die to perform.
The stamping dies can be devide into the below type
1.Cutting dies
Cutting is perhaps the most common operation performed in a stamping die. The metal is severed by placing it between two bypassing tool steel sections that have a small gap between them. This gap, or distance, is called the cutting clearance.
2.Trimming dies-The outer perimeter of the formed part or flat sheet metal is cut away to give the piece part the desired profile. The excess material usually is discarded as scrap
3.Notching dies-Usually associated with progressive dies, notching is a process in which a cutting operation is performed progressively on the outside of a sheet metal strip to create a given strip profile
4.Blanking-A dual-purpose cutting operation usually performed on a larger scale, blanking is used in operations in which the slug is saved for further pressworking. It also is used to cut finished piece parts free from the sheet metal. The profiled sheet metal slug removed from the sheet by this process is called the blank, or starting piece of sheet metal that will be cut or formed later
5.Piercing-Often called perforating, piercing is a metal cutting operation that produces a round, square, or special-shaped hole in flat sheet metal or a formed part. The main difference between piercing and blanking is that in blanking, the slug is used, and in piercing the slug is discarded as scrap. The cutting punch that produces the hole is called the pierce punch, and the hole the punch enters is called the matrix
6.Lancing-In lancing, the metal is sliced or slit in an effort to free up metal without separating it from the strip. Lancing often is done in progressive dies to create a part carrier called a flex 
7.Shearing-Shearing slices or cuts the metal along a straight line. This method commonly is used to produce rectangular and square blanks (see Figure 8).
8.Forming dies mades the metal sheet part into the shape as we need .The metal sheet will form as the shape during the pressing production process.

Stamping Dies moulds workshop -Tool & Dies Fabrication

1.The first step for the stamping dies was the drawing of the part ,normally we get the drawing from the customer ,but in case the customer only got stamping part without drawing ,we will need to reverse the part by scanner or CMM to read all the part data.
2.Inport all the data into CAD or solidwork ,UG to get the 3D of the part.
3.Key characteristics, special characteristics with customer.

4.Simulation of the staming and forming by input all the data into computer ,use the CAE of stamping simulation software to double check the result of the stamping dies
We give out a example of the stamping metal as transmission oil pan ,the most difficult for the oil pan was wrinkle after the drawing production process.

5.After the simulation ,we will share all the data with out customer and them kick off the dies moulds project.
The key to avoid the wrinkle was the press metal sheet at the
corner of raw material during the press production process.

2D drawing for all the mold part ,those part of the 2D wass from the design by 3D after customer approved.
According to the mold dies stamping tolerance we decide the tolerance for all size of the dies and mold,
We choose the raw material of the dies according to customer need
All the EDM wire cutting machine was produce the the dies part we choose the EDM machine according to the 2D drawing tolerance call out.

To produce the dies we need a lot of CNC machine ,we need the CNC machine as follow:CNC Machining shops have a wide range of equipment & raw material, the range and type of equipment depends on the facility's size and function.
A CNC machining shop may also have raw machining material of sheet metal to provide production parts, plastic parts, Machined parts, stores that can be milled to manufacture parts, in addition to machinery.
Plastic & metal Materials may, however, be housed elsewhere, such as at a warehouse, depending on the manufacturer's scale.
Machinists can also use their machine shop to digitally design items, which implies computers with CAD software may be present. CNC machining & measuring equipment can also be controlled by computers.
